TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 20-year-old man is dead after a single-vehicle fatal crash in Takoma Park Thursday night, police said.
The crash happened around 7:27 p.m. at 7810 Carroll Avenue, according to Takoma Park police. Authorities identified the victim as Yoftahea Afework Melese, 20, of Takoma Park.
A tan, 2000 Toyota Corolla was going north on Carroll Avenue when the crash happened. It is not clear why, however the car left the right side of the road and hit a stone wall and embankment in front of a home.
Melese died at the scene from his injuries. A 16-year-old female, who was sitting in the passenger's seat was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old male sitting in the back of the car was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
