MISSING: 24-year-old Takoma Park man


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for a 24-year-old critical missing Takoma Park man who was last seen on Tuesday.

Abraham Berhanu Ayele was last seen around 9:30 a.m. at the Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park police said. He last spoke with his mother at 4:27 p.m. that day.

Ayele is described as a black man, 5'9" tall, weighing around 160 pounds. He has a thin build, a goatee, and was last seen wearing a blue winter coat with a hood, a red, yellow, and white striped shirt, gray sweat pants and gray Nike sneakers, according to authorities.

Anyone who has information about Ayele's whereabouts is asked to contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100 and refer to case #15056189.

Takoma Park crash leaves man dead, teen injured


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 20-year-old man is dead after a single-vehicle fatal crash in Takoma Park Thursday night, police said.

The crash happened around 7:27 p.m. at 7810 Carroll Avenue, according to Takoma Park police. Authorities identified the victim as Yoftahea Afework Melese, 20, of Takoma Park.

A tan, 2000 Toyota Corolla was going north on Carroll Avenue when the crash happened. It is not clear why, however the car left the right side of the road and hit a stone wall and embankment in front of a home.

Melese died at the scene from his injuries. A 16-year-old female, who was sitting in the passenger's seat was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old male sitting in the back of the car was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.

One dead, two injured, after accident in Takoma Park


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- One person is dead and two other people are in the hospital after a single car accident Thursday night in Takoma Park. 

Takoma Park police did not specify the injuries of the two passengers, but a Montgomery County fire spokesperson described some of them as serious and potentially life-threatening.  

The accident happened in the 7800 block of Carroll Avenue near Garland Avenue. The road is be closed for an unknown amount of time while police investigate the accident.

Police said the person who died was the driver of the car.

MISSING: 18-year-old Takoma Park woman


 

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for a missing 18-year-old Takoma Park woman who was last seen on Sunday morning.

Naija S. Whitaker, 18, was last seen in the 700 block of Hudson Avenue around 10 a.m., Takoma Park police said.

Anyone who has information about Whitaker's whereabouts is asked to contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100 and refer to case #15052953.

2 robbed at gunpoint in Takoma Park parking lot


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two people were armed at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Little Caesars in Takoma Park Thursday night, police said.

The armed robbery happened in the 1100 block of University Blvd. around 9:21 p.m., Takoma Park police said. The victims were walking in the lot towards the shopping center when two men pulled out handguns and demanded their property. Police said the victims gave them their property and the suspects then fled the area in the direction of the Expo Mart towards Anne Street.

The first suspect is being described as a black man, about 5'10" and in his twenties. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a black man, about 5'4" tall and also in his twenties. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and black pants.

MISSING: Juvenile from Takoma Park


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are looking for a missing juvenile from Takoma Park.

Ashley Lemus was last seen in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue.

Ashley was described by police as a a black female, 5'2, 105 lbs., brown eyes and black hair.

She was last seen wearing a maroon long sleeve shirt and khaki pants.

Police: Drunk man swinging gun arrested in Takoma Park


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police arrested a man who was reportedly walking around drunk with a handgun in Takoma Park Thursday night.

Gideo Y. Allotey, 46, of Takoma Park was arrested for first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment, illegally carrying a firearm and carrying a firearm while intoxicated, Takoma Park police said.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m.m in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, authorities stated. Police said the man was walking around arguing with people and waving the gun around.

Allotey's home was searched and a loaded 40 caliber black Glock 22 was found. He was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
