MISSING: 14-year-old Takoma Park girl

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police need your help locating a missing Takoma Park girl.

14-year-old Tashanna Lane was last seen in the 8200 block of Houston Court in Takoma Park at 3:15 on October 10th, police said.

Lane is described as a dark-skinned female, about 5'7" tall weighing about 109 pounds. Lane was last seen wearing a black and white cardigan over a black T-shirt, dark blue jeans and black/yellow Jordan shoes. Lan'es hair was braided in a ponytail the last time she was seen .

Anyone who has information about Tashanna Lane's whereabouts is asked to contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100.

Md. police K9 Kota to get vest thanks to Groupon event

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A dog who is part of a local K9 unit will receive a ballistic vest thanks to funds raised from a GROUPON event.

The Takoma Park Police Department announced that more than $335,000 were raised under the "Occasions" campaign for Groupon Grassroots to outfit police K9's with bullet and stab protective vests and K9 Kota will receive a vest thanks to that effort. The campaign from February 15th to March 5th encouraged users to make a $10, tax-deductible donation to go towards buying ballistic vests for police dogs.

According to police, non-profit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. will be providing over 350 law enforcement dogs nationwide, including Kota, with the vests in memory of K9 Rocco of the Pittsburgh Police Department who sacrificed his life in the line of duty in January 2014. The vests will be embroidered with the sentiment, "In Memory of K9 Rocco, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police."

TRAFFIC ALERT: Takoma Park road closures Oct. 5

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9)- The following roads will be closed in from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 5 due to the street festival:

  • Columbia Avenue at Pine Avenue
  • Westmoreland at Walnut Avenue/Elm Avenue
  • Carroll Avenue at Philadelphia Avenue (MD 410)
  • Park Avenue at Spruce Avenue
  • Carroll Avenue at Eastern Avenue
  • Laurel Avenue at Eastern Avenue

Maple Avenue will stay open with parking only on the northbound side. Vehicles and transit buses will be able to pass through.

There will be no parking restrictions on the following streets:

  • Tulip Avenue (on both sides of the road between Willow Avenue and Carroll Avenue
  • Southbound side of Maple Avenue from the 7100 block

Women arrested for robbery, assault in Takoma Park

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Takoma Park police have arrested three young women for a robbery and assault on Sunday.

According to police, a woman was approached by three females in the 7300 block of Carroll Avenue at 9:50 p.m. Sunday. They assaulted her and stole property.

The victim "did not suffer any major physical harm," according to police in a press release.

The three young women were located later on Carroll Avenue.

Twenty-year-old Jasmine Ward of Silver Spring, 19-year-old Taresha Pendarvis of Burtonsville, and a 15-year-old from Silver Spring (not named because she is a juvenile) are charged with Strong Arm Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Strong Arm Robbery, Attempt Robbery, Assault and Conspiracy to Commit Assault.

2 arrested in Md. burglary

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Takoma Park Police Department arrested a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old in connection with a burglary that happened Friday morning.

Police said Alex Moran, 19, of Takoma Park, Md. and a 17-year-old male of Silver Spring, Md. were both arrested and are being charged with first degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, and theft over $1,000.

The burglary happened around 11:47 a.m. in the 100 block of Ritchie Avenue in Takoma Park, police said.

The two suspects were spotted running through backyards towards Takoma Park Middle School, authorities said.

According to the investigation, Moran kept the lookout while the teenager broke the window of the home and unlocked the door.

Property was taken, police said.

Police say the two suspects may have been involved in other burglaries in the area.

Found: David Pride of Takoma Park

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Takoma Park Police say they have found a man who was reported missing earlier this week.

Twenty-one-year-old David Pride was reported missing from the Montgomery County Crisis Center.

has been located, say police on Friday. He is safe and in good health.

MISSING: Man, 34, Takoma Park

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Takoma Park Police Department is searching for a missing 34-year-old Takoma Park man, who was last seen Monday around noon at the Washington Adventist Hospital.

Police said, Darren Etheridge, was last seen around 12:18 p.m. in the 7600 block of Carroll Avenue in Takoma Park, Md.

Etheridge is described as a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 250 pounds. He has a medium complexion, police said.

He was last seen wearing two hospital gowns, blue and white in color, according to authorities.

There is no available picture of the missing man, authorities said.
