Suspect Arrested in Silver Spring Sex Offense

Officers from the Montgomery County Police 3rd District have arrested a suspect for a sex offense that occurred on August 7 in Silver Spring.

On Sunday, August 7th, at approximately 9:43 a.m., a 22-year-old female was entering the Giant Food store located at 1280 East West Highway.  As she was walking through the front doors of the store, a black male touched her inappropriately.  The suspect then fled the store.

Further investigation revealed that the incident had been caught on the store’s surveillance video, and officers were able to obtain a photo of the suspect.  Officers recognized the suspect from his involvement in prior unrelated incidents and were able to determine his identity.  A warrant was obtained for the suspect charging him with a fourth degree sex offense and second degree assault.
