2 men rob taxi cab driver in Takoma Park area

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two suspects robbed a taxi cab driver in Takoma Park on September 12, according Takoma Park police.

The reported robbery happened around 10:40 p.m. in the 7100 block of 13th Avenue, according to authorities. The taxi driver picked up two people from the Prince George's Plaza Metro Station. They asked to go to Takoma Park.

Police said both of the suspects sat in the back of the taxi. One of the suspects put a knife to the victim's throat and told him not to move. The taxi driver was cut when he tried to move away from the knife.

The second suspect got out of the taxi, opened the driver's door and demanded his cell phone. Witnesses saw the robbery and stated that police were on the way.

The suspects fled southbound on foot in the direction of Manor Hill Park. The area was searched, however the suspects were not found.

The victim was not severely hurt, however was taken to the local hospital.

Police said the suspects are being described as a black man with light skin and about 5'6" tall. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and white or light colored pants.

The second person is described as a black man with dark skin, about 5'10" tall and with braided hair. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, and gray pants.
