Police: Man Posing As Comcast Technician Takes Cable Box | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- Takoma Park Police are looking for a man who they say falsely identified himself as a Comcast technician and then stole a cable box from a home.
According to police, on Jan. 31 they received a report of a theft in the unit block of Lee Avenue. They were told that a man knocked on the victim's door, saying he was a Comcast technician and was checking for outages in the area. The victim let him inside the home and he checked the Comcast cable box. Police say he "indicated" the victim needed a new cable box, so he removed it and told her he would return. He left the home and didn't come back, so the victim called Comcast.
Comcast told the victim that the suspect was not a Comcast technician.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10", and clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black pants with some sort of ID hanging from his belt.
If you have any information about this crime, please call police at 301-270-1100.
Police want to remind you that if workers come to your home saying that you need repairs of any kind, you should ask to see their identification. They say legitimate technicians won't hesitate to let you see their ID.
