Crews respond to Takoma Park house fire


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- The bulk of a fire at a house in Takoma Park has been knocked down on Friday morning.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters arrived at the three-story home in the 6500 block of Kansas Avenue to see fire showing from multiple floors.

Piringer says the person who lived at the home was not at home at the time of the fire.

MISSING: Zodie Campbell and Dyamond Smith


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Takoma Park police are looking for two teenage girls who have been missing since Monday.

Police say 15-year-old Zodie Campbell and 16-year-old Dyamond Asia Smith were last seen in the
700 block of Hudson Avenue in Takoma Park. They believe the two girls are still together.

Zodie Campbell is described as a black female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 123 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, medium skin and a thin build. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, pink pants and black shoes.

Dyamond Asia Smith is described as a black female, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 178 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and black yoga pants. Police did not have a photo for Smith.

Md. 15-year-old charged with possession of stun gun


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A fifteen-year-old male from Takoma Park, Md. is being charged with possession of a stun gun by a person under the age of 18, Takoma Park Police Department said.

Police responded to the area of Houston Avenue at Brighton Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday for the report of shots being fired.

The teenager was found with a stun gun, according to police.


Police arrest 3 men for drugs in Md.


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police have arrested three Maryland men for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Joseph Davis, 22, of Silver Spring, Donnell Glenn, 22, of Silver Spring, and Howard Brown, 19, of Suitland Maryland were all arrested on August, 6th police said.

The three were stopped in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue for traffic violations when investigators found a large quantity of drugs indicative of an intent to sell, police said.

Davis, Glenn and Brown were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, police said.

Md. police respond to suspicious death of man


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police in Takoma Park are investigating the death of a 73-year-old man as a homicide.

Police say Cecil Brown was found dead in his backyard Monday afternoon after police received two phone calls for a disturbance in the 800 block of Colby Avenue in Takoma Park.

While waiting for the report from the Medical Examiner as to manner of death, it does not appear to be a shooting, police say.

The investigation is ongoing.


Md. 33-year-old arrested for possession of cocaine


TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Takoma Park Police Department arrested a 33-year-old in connection with possession of cocaine and possession of paraphernalia.

Police said Brandy Caceres-Borja, 33, of Hyattsville, Md. was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

According to authorities, Caceres-Borja was pulled over for several traffic violations on July 18. Cocaine was found in the vehicle, authorities said.

Caceres-Borja was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
